Sister Renee Marek celebrates silver jubilee

DULUTH, MN (09-03-2006) - Holy Family Church hosted a Mass of celebration of 25 years of religious vows for Sister Renee Marek, FSE, on Sunday, September 3rd. The Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr, Bishop of Duluth, was the celebrant. During the Mass, Sister Renee renewed her vows of chastity, poverty and obedience in the presence of Mother Shaun Vergauwen, FSE, Mother General (pictured right).

Following the Mass, friends gathered for a reception at the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist's center on Greysolon Road.

Sister Renee, a native of Unionville, Connecticut, has spent the past 22 years in Duluth. She serves as a full-time legal secretary for a local firm, is a catechist for Holy Family Parish, and maintains the financial accounting for the John S. Duss Memorial Music Conservatory. Visitors to the Conservatory see the results of Sister Renee's love of gardening and flowers in the gardens surrounding the building. Sister Renee has a graduate degree in theology from Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium.
