Sisters revive tradition of processions
POCATELLO, ID (June 2006) - In order to revive the tradition of processions, the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist at the Family Life Center in Pocatello, Idaho, recently sponsored two different processions on their land at Desert House.
In May, a Rogation Day Procession was held. This particular procession is a way for the Church and its people to honor God for the gift of creation. It is also to ask His blessing and protection on the land, the animals, for a bountiful harvest, and all those who will be working the land. The second procession was held in June on the Feast of Corpus Christi. This feast day is to honor the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The procession is a way for all who participate to express their desire to follow Jesus Christ and to show their devotion to Him in the Eucharist. This desire was expressed beautifully through representation of the Hispanic, Filipino and Anglo communities.
