FSEs attend Common Venture meeting in Cameroon

Sister Barbara Johnson and Sister Kieran Foley represented the FSE Community at a meeting of the Common Venture in Cameroon from November 2-16, 2005. The Common Venture includes three other Franciscan communities - the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, La Crosse, Wisconsin; Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis, Cameroon Province - who work together to further the mission of the Tertiary Sisters in Cameroon, and to extend each community's mission outreach to another culture. A delegation of ten Sisters from the three U.S. communities participated in the meeting.

The Sisters traveled extensively in Cameroon to visit schools, clinics, hospitals and pastoral centers staffed by the Tertiary Sisters. The purpose was to experience first-hand the mission of the Tertiary Sisters and to meet as many members of the community as possible, as well as to become acquainted with the needs of the missions.

The time also included meetings with formation Sisters, directors of programs, lay companions, staff members, and the Tertiary Sisters Provincial Council.
