Sister Jacinta Coscia first to receive Communion from Pope Benedict XVI

VATICAN CITY (04-24-2005) - Sister Jacinta Coscia, FSE was honored to be the first person to receive Holy Communion from Pope Benedict XVI after he was installed as the Supreme Pontiff during the inauguration Mass in St. Peter's Square. Sister Jacinta was among 60 persons selected to receive the Eucharist from the new Holy Father. She was the first to take her place in the reserved section, so was the first to approach the Holy Father for Communion. She felt it was indeed a privilege and an unforgettable moment.

Sister Jacinta made her perpetual vows as a Franciscan Sister of the Eucharist almost one year ago, on May 30, 2004 (see photo at right). She is spending this year in theological studies in Rome. See photos of the Mass of Inauguration taken by the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist.
