Franciscans celebrate Christmas with great joy
Franciscans everywhere celebrate with great joy the solemnity of the Incarnation, the feast of Christmas. St. Francis popularized the creche in his day and since then, Franciscans have picked up the spirit of St. Francis in making Christmas one of the most celebrated feasts of the year. The Franciscan Sisters and Brothers of the Eucharist carry on this tradition. In many of the centers, midnight Mass includes a presentation of the Holy Family in the stable surrounded by angels, shepherds and animals. Franciscan spirituality is permeated with a lively sense of the profound gift of the Incarnation: God taking on the flesh of humanity. Franciscans acknowledge that all creation changed at the moment when God became a man. All of creation is a reflection of the mystery of God's love, with Christ as the epitome of God's love present in the flesh.
We wish you all a very joyful and blessed Christmas season! |
