Sister
Maria David Magbanua makes first vows
MERIDEN, CT (December
5, 2004) - Sister Maria David Magbanua became the first woman from
the Philippines to make vows in the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist.
During the Mass for the Second Sunday of Advent, Sister Maria David
pronounced
her vows of chastity, poverty and obedience and received the medal
of the Community, the cincture with three knots representing the
vows, and the Constitutions.
Mother
Rosemae Pender, Mother General, received Sister's vows and said,
"This is
the most solemn
commitment a human being can ever make." Mother Shaun Vergauwen,
Vicar General, presented Sister Maria David with the insignia of
the Community and the cincture. Reverend Randall
Blackall, celebrant, gave the Church's blessing to Sister after she
had said her vows.

Father Blackall gives his blessing.
