Sister Jacinta Coscia professes final vows

Meriden, CT (May 30, 2004) - Sister Jacinta Coscia, daughter of Louis and Rose Marie Coscia, of Southington, Connecticut, publicly professed for life the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Southington. Sister Jacinta was most recently assigned to the Houston, Texas, center where she was an elementary school teacher at John Paul II School in that city.

Reverend Anthony Giampietro, CSB was the celebrant of the Mass with Very Reverend Douglas Mosey, CSB, and Reverend Christopher Meade concelebrating. In his homily, Father Giampietro noted the presence of Sister Jacinta’s family and friends and spoke about how being from a family of six children had prepared her for community. Mother Rosemae Pender, Mother General, accepted Sister Jacinta’s profession with the observation that the simple vow formula represented a profound mystery.

In her profession, Sister Jacinta is making an offering of her life and relinquishing it completely into God’s hands.

The ceremony took place on the Feast of Pentecost, an especially significant day for the Church because it commemorates the day on which the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and began the work of building the church. In that spirit, Sister Jacinta will move into her mission in the Community and in the Church.
