Scholarship Awarded to FSE Student MERIDEN, CT (May 14, 2004) - Sister Anna Rose Kalinowski, FSE, received the Nihla and Bob Lapidus Foundation Scholarship for $2,000 from Middlesex Community College in Middletown, Connecticut, at a ceremony held at the college. Sister Anna Rose recently finished her third semester at Middlesex, working towards an Associate degree in accounting. She will finish her degree in December. Sister Anna Rose applied for the scholarship to help the community finance her education. She explained that the Franciscan Sisters, a self-supporting community, carries a heavy financial burden in educating a number of young Sisters at the same time. She expressed her joy in receiving the scholarship, saying, "I am very grateful to be chosen to receive it. I know this will be a help to the community as everyone works so hard to provide for us Sisters in formation who need to be prepared academically for the mission of the Community." More than 60 scholarships were awarded to students of all walks of life and many cultures. Sister Anna Rose received one of the largest scholarships in the group.
