Franciscan Sister Nominated for Award Lowell, Michigan (Feb. 23, 2004) - Sister Mary Margaret Delaski, F.S.E., a music therapist and music educator, has been nominated for the 2004 Rosalynn Carter Caregiving Award. The Award is presented annually by the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Human Development to persons who make a significant contribution to the field of human services. Sister Mary Margaret has been a pioneer in the music therapy profession. A nationally board-certified music therapist, she has worked helping children with autism for more than 25 years. She serves persons with illness and traumatic brain injuries in nursing homes and rehabilitation centers in the Grand Rapids area and has played a key role in the development of the music therapy program at Saint Mary’s Mercy Medical Center in the city. Sister Mary Margaret is an American Music Therapy Association approved clinical training supervisor for music therapy interns. She has long been an advocate of the healing power of music. |
