Sisters Attend Episcopal Ordination in Rome ROME, ITALY (Jan. 12, 2004) Two Franciscan Sisters from the Houston center were invited to be present at the episcopal ordination of the Most Reverend J. Michael Miller, C.S.B., as Titular Archbishop of Vertara and Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education. Sister Paula Jean Miller, F.S.E., and Sister Clare Hunter, F.S.E., joined more than 700 persons from Houston, Texas to celebrate the elevation of Father Miller to this office. The Franciscan Sisters in Rome also were present at the liturgy and celebration held at St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. Archbishop Miller is the former president of St. Thomas University in Houston, Texas, where Sister Paula Jean, a professor of theology, is the Director of the Catholic Studies Program and Sister Clare heads the Campus Ministry Program. Archbishop Miller invited the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist to begin their ministry in Houston in 1999. Archbishop Miller's new duties will include responsibility for education in Catholic seminaries, universities, colleges, secondary and primary schools.
