Mass and Blessing of New Generalate Addition Mark 30th Anniversary

MERIDEN, CT (Dec. 14, 2003) During a snowstorm, the new addition to the Community's Generalate was blessed. The event had been postponed from a week earlier because of inclement weather. The Very Reverend Douglas Mosey, CSB and Reverend Randall Blackall presided at a Mass offered for the occasion. At the end of the Mass, the priests walked through the new building and blessed each room, accompanied by Mother Rosemae Pender, Mother General, Mother Shaun Vergauwen, Vicar General and the General Council.

Sister Bernardone Rock, FSE, of Duluth, Minnesota, directed the Community and the Canticle Singers in providing music for the Mass. Representatives from the other FSE Centers were present, as were the architect, contractors, friends and supporters of the Sisters. The ceremony marked the 30th anniversary of the Community and signaled a time of hope and future growth. The new Generalate holds offices, meeting rooms, living quarters and a chapel.
