Bavarian Pilgrims Visit FSE Motherhouse

MERIDEN, CT (Aug. 31, 2003) Father Manfred Krumm, pastor of Christ the King Church, Augsburg, Bavaria, led a group of pilgrims from his parish and from his home parish of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ettenbeuren, Bavaria to visit the motherhouse of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. The group joined the Franciscan Community at a Mass with Father Krumm as celebrant. The pilgrims furnished German music for the celebration. After dinner, tours and visiting, the day culminated with an American-style picnic for the Labor Day holiday.

The pilgrims are also visiting the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in La Crosse, Wisconsin and the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The trip was a followup to a visit in September of 2000 during which Father Krumm brought a smaller number of Bavarians to meet the three communities.

Beginning in 1999, the three communities have celebrated their common heritage stemming from Ettenbeuren, Bavaria, the home of the founders and foundresses of a group of Franciscan Tertiaries that gave rise to the three orders. Father Krumm has maintained a relationship with the communities and fostered connections with the lay faithful from Bavaria.

Father Krumm and pilgrims arrive in Meriden, Sunday, August 31st.
