Harp Camp and Writing
Workshop Among Summer Offerings

The first-ever Summer Harp Camp held July 10-11 at Franciscan Life Process Center, Lowell, Michigan, drew seven harpists. The camp offered sessions in ensemble work, harp maintenance, music theory, stretching exercises and rules in interpretation of ornamentation symbols. The harpists also studied works by Paret, Andres, Bach, Renie and Satie. Sister Mary Margaret Delaski, FSE, instructed the class with assistance from a former student, Heidi Wolterstorff, who now holds a Master of Music in Harp Performance degree from Cleveland Institute of Music. Sister Mary Margaret has taught music for thrity years and uses the harp in her music therapy work. She is a board certified music therapist and holds a Master of Arts in Education degree from the University of Minnesota.

Sister Lucia Treanor, FSE, Ph.D. jumped at the opportunity to offer a class in writing composition for junior high students when ten used computers were donated to the Franciscan Life Process Center this summer. Sister Lucia is a member of the affiliate faculty, Department of Writing, Grand Valley State University. She earned a doctorate in Comparative Literature from City University of New York.
