Sisters Volunteer in Cameroon

July 26, 2003. Silver Spring, MD and Lowell, MI

Three Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist recently returned from six weeks of work in Cameroon. Sister Sarah Doser and Sister Timothy Prokes of Silver Spring, Maryland and Sister Barbara Cline of Lowell, Michigan, spent six weeks collaborating with the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis as part of an on-going companioning mission with the Cameroon community. Two other American communities, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration and the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, along with the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, have taken on the mission to Cameroon as a common venture.

Sister Sarah presented retreats for the Sisters at LaVerna Spirituality Center in Bamenda. Sister Timothy taught theology to novices at their formation house in Shisong. Sister Barbara continued her mission of the past two summers in Bafut assessing children with celebral palsy and training staff members and mothers to work with the children.
