Mother General Addresses Honor Society

April 30, 2003. Meriden, Connecticut

Mother Rosemae Pender, FSE, Mother General

Mother Rosemae Pender, FSE Mother General, presented the main address to the Pope John XXIII Chapter of the National Honor Society at St. Paul Catholic School in Bristol, Connecticut, on April 30th. The President of the Chapter, Lauren Russo, invited Mother Rosemae to address the Society, noting that Mother Rosemae "stands as a witness to the hallmarks of the Society and as a leader of her religious community, is a woman of wisdom." She added that the Society values scholarship, leadership, character and service.

In her presentation, Mother Rosemae encouraged the students to have a deep sense of hope and to believe that they can make a difference. Miss Russo remarked that Mother's talk was very inspiring and that she persuasively told the students that they indeed can make a difference despite the fact that many young people think they cannot effectively change things.

Thirty students were inducted into the Honor Society at the event. To qualify for entrance, students must not only maintain an excellent grade point average, but be approved by the faculty in the four pillars of the Society -- scholarship, leadership, character and service.
