Michigan Sisters Obtain Topographical Model of Land

January 16, 2003. Lowell, Michigan

The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in Lowell, Michigan, have acquired a 9' by 9' topographical model of the 230 acres that comprise the Franciscan Life Process Center land. The modular model will be used to provide the people of West Michigan with a visual experience of the land forms created by glacial activity thousands of years ago. The Sisters envision that, while the polyurethane foam model details only a little portion of Michigan land, it will open visitors to a greater understanding and appreciation of the relationship between land development and land preservation. The Sisters plan to use the model to give a clear focus and perspective for students, retreatants and other visitors who come for land-based experiences on the 230 acres.
