Sister Clare Hunter Professes Perpetual Vows

August 11, 2002. Meriden, CT

Sister Clare Hunter, FSE, professed vows of chastity, poverty and obedience for life at a Mass at Holy Angels Church, South Meriden, Connecticut, today. With this step, Sister Clare becomes a full member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Hunter of Cheshire, Connecticut, Sister Clare is missioned to the Houston, Texas center where she is the Coordinator of Campus Ministry at the University of St. Thomas.

In his homily, the Very Reverend Douglas Mosey, CSB, Celebrant, related Sister Clare's enthusiastic response to her vocation to the response of St. Peter as he jumped from the boat and walked on the water to meet Christ, as proclaimed in the Gospel. Mother Rosemae Pender, FSE Mother General, referred to Sister Clare's capacity for "out-of-the-boat" launches as she devotes her energy to promoting the sacredness of the human person. Mother Rosemae encouraged Sister Clare in the words of Pope John Paul II to "Be not afraid" to embrace her mission wholeheartedly for the sake of the Church.
