Sisters Speak at Inculturation WorkshopsJuly 19, 2002The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist are joining the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi and the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis in sponsoring three workshops on Inculturation this summer. Sisters and lay associates from the four congregations are participating in the workshops. This educational project developed from the "companioning" relationship the communities have undertaken with each other since 1997. Representing the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, Sister Agnese Hutchinson, FSE, was a speaker at the June workshop in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She spoke about inculturation from the perspective of having lived for over twenty years in Assisi, Italy, at the heart of Franciscan roots. Sister Judith Zoebelein, FSE, is a speaker for the July conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sister Judith has lived and worked in Asian, African, Mid-Eastern and European countries and is the Technical Director of the Vatican's Internet Office. Sister will address the challenge of inculturation in this internet age. Sister Frances Zajac, FSE, will speak at the August meeting in Meriden, Connecticut, focusing on her experience of living and teaching in Cameroon.
