Football Team Volunteers at Franciscan Center

March 23, 2002. Meriden, Connecticut

Members of Southington High School football team got a workout today as they volunteered for a work project at the campus of the Franciscan Life Center in Meriden. With their coach Jude Kelly, they hauled brush to the wood chipper to help clean up an overgrown area. Coach Kelly sees such a project as good for team morale and as a way of helping the high school group learn life values of work, service and cooperation. The Sisters provided a hearty lunch for the team and were grateful for the energy the youth gave to the work day. The football players joined with other volunteers to make a big job less formidable. The Sisters and other adults at the work day were impressed with the spirit of the team.
