Franciscan Sister Designs Materials for 67th Annual Azalea Trail February 25, 2002. Houston, TX Sister Mary Roberta Connors, FSE, MFA, recently was awarded the contract to design the promotional materials for the River Oaks Garden Club’s 67th Annual Azalea Trail to be held in Houston, Texas, the first two weekends in March. Widely publicized, the Azalea Trail is a very popular springtime event for Houstonians. Each year six or seven homes are chosen in the River Oaks area. The public is invited to tour the interiors as well as the gardens of these beautiful homes. The dates are chosen to correspond with the peak of the azalea season, when this prolific shrub is in full bloom throughout Houston. Former First Lady Barbara Bush will cut the ribbon to open the event. Sister Mary Roberta, a fine artist as well as a graphic designer, was able to combine her artistic and technical skills to produce the promotional materials. Sister holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is the foundress and director of Franciscan Graphics & Corporate Services.
