San Juan Islands Hear "Mostly Bach" Concerts January 5, 2002. Shaw Island, Washington The Island Sinfonia and Shaw Island Chorale offered concerts on Lopez, Shaw and Orcas islands the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. This year's musical presentation entitled, "Mostly Bach" Concert, featured a variety of Bach compositions as well as German Christmas carols. Sister Kateri Visocky, FSE is the director of the Sinfonia and Chorale groups. She also teaches instrumental lessons at San Pietro Studio, Shaw Island. In the program notes, Mother Felicitas Curti, OSB, writes, "Bach considered all his music, secular and pedagogical as well as sacred, and all his musical activities including the most humble, to be in the service of God. In his words, 'the aim and final reason . . . of all music . . . should be none else but the Glory of God and the recreation of the mind.'"
