Franciscan Teacher Dedicates 22 Years to Holy Land

September 6, 2001. Holy Land.

Sister Tharsilla Bichler, FSE is returning to the U.S. after spending the past 22 years serving the people of the Holy Land. An educator for over 45 years, Sister continued her love of teaching high school mathematics when she went to the Holy Land in 1979 where she taught at the Anglican International School in Jerusalem for 17 years. The past five years she has taught English and tutored students at the Holy Child Program in Bethlehem. Sister Tharsilla was the founding Superior of the FSE Holy Land center, and has led the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in their mission there. Besides her teaching role, she has helped many individuals in their pilgrimage of faith by her counsel, her spiritual wisdom and prayer.

Sister Tharsilla has been an inspiration to all the Sisters in the Community for her untiring energy, her strength and sense of mission in the face of adversity, her love of poverty and her alacrity to sacrifice for the sake of others.
