Sister Frances Zajac Makes First Vows

June 24, 2001. Meriden, CT

Sister Frances Zajac made her first vows of chastity, poverty and obedience in the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist at a Mass on the Solemnity of the Birth of John the Baptist. Sister Frances, a native of Meriden, Connecticut, is a science teacher at Maloney High School and former head volleyball coach. She is the daughter of Mrs. Carol DeSantis and the late Anthony Zajac. Members of her family attended the ceremony.

Prior to her entrance into the Franciscan Order, Sister Frances earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-medicine and a Master of Science in Teaching - Secondary Education degree, both from the University of Dayton. She spent three years in the Peace Corps in Cameroon, an experience dear to her heart. Her enthusiasm for helping others has found a new sphere of action, she acknowledged, now that she is a Franciscan Sister. "I look forward to living my vows to the fullest," she exclaimed.
