FSE Receives Historical Society Award

March 11, 2001. Duluth, MN.

The St. Louis County Historical Society presented the "President's Award" to the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist at its Annual Meeting and Dinner recently in Duluth.

The Society recognized the Franciscan Sisters "for their ongoing efforts in respecting the historical integrity of the former Prindle Mansion, 2211 Greysolon Road, Duluth, Minnesota, while renovating it within the vision of the John S. Duss Memorial Music Conservatory; with acknowledgement of the outstanding efforts of the many volunteers and benefactors who continue the commitment to this vision."

In receiving the award on behalf of the Franciscan Community, Sister Bernardone Rock, FSE, presented the story of the rebuilding process, "A Reverent Restoration: Preserving the Pillars." She remarked that the building "is part of the unique architectural heritage of Duluth. . . . It is also an integral part of the future of our region in that, as a music conservatory, it is providing artistically formed and aesthetically sensitive persons who will in turn be pillars of support wherever they may be."
