Franciscan Sister Admitted to Maryland State Bar

December 13, 2000. Silver Spring, Maryland.

Sister Veronica Schueler, FSE, Esq. was admitted to the Bar of the State of Maryland at a swearing in ceremony before Justices of the Maryland Court of Appeals in Annapolis, Maryland, today. Sister Veronica, who is currently working in the area of immigration law, received her J.D. degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing, Michigan, in 1993. Since that time, she has been admitted to the practice of law in the states of Michigan, Connecticut and Minnesota.

Prior to entering the field of law, Sister Veronica received a Bachelor of Arts in Writing from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven. She also worked in corrections for ten years in Federal and State prisons.

Chief Justice Robert Bell's remarks to the newly admitted attorneys focused on the nobility of the profession, the importance of protecting clients' interests and the positive influence these new attorneys could have on the legal profession. He also reminded them to acknowledge with gratitude the support of family and friends who helped them achieve this milestone.
