Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist Celebrate 27th Year of Foundation

December 2, 2000. Meriden, Connecticut.

The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist are celebrating the 27th jubilee of their foundation as a pontifically approved religious order on December 2nd. The first Foundation Day, December 2, 1973, coincided with the First Sunday of Advent. Traditionally, the Sisters observe December 2nd each year as a day of prayer and fasting and enjoy a festive celebration following the Advent liturgy on the First Sunday of Advent. The Sisters also mark the vigil of the feast day with a Community Holy Hour and all night adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.

The Sisters continue the spirit of foundation each year by making a commitment as a body to new areas of founding for the growth and life of the Franciscan mission.

The Community gratefully acknowledges all those persons who have supported the mission and development of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist since 1973.
