FSE Theologian's Article Published

November 23, 2000. Houston, Texas.

An article entitled "The Body: Science, Theology and Humanae Vitae" by Sister Paula Jean Miller, FSE, STD, has been published in LOGOS, A Journal of Catholic Thought and Culture, Summer 2000, Vol.3:3, University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Sister Paula Jean provides us with this summary:

"At the same time 'body worship' dominates contemporary culture, John Paul II writes a theology of the body. Grasping the limitations of scientifically engineered alternatives for human love relationships, John Paul focuses on the true goal of human sexuality: the union of man and woman, body and spirit. The human person, embodied as male and female, makes visible a God who both gives and receives in selfless and unconditional love. Because of the body's nuptial meaning, man and woman transcend themselves precisely through their bodily donation to one another, and not by escape from the body."
