The Oregon Montessori Association recently awarded to Sister Janet Siepker, FSE, "The 1999-2000 Susie Huston Memorial Award" for her "outstanding dedication" as Montessori Guide and faithful member of the Association. Sister Janet was chosen "for her outstanding service to children and families through the Montessori educational process."  Sister Janet, with over 20 years of service to the Franciscan Montessori Earth School, Portland, Oregon, has "won the hearts of the students, parents, staff and her fellow Montessorians" according to the testimonies that accompanied the award.

The Susie Huston Award is named after the first Montessori Elementary level teacher in the Corvallis, Oregon area who died 10 years ago.
